The State Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the Work with Religious Organizations is the relevant executive government body that supervises the observance of AML/CFT legislation requirements by the religious organizations that receive, collect, issue or transfer funds as a part of their activity. According to the legislation, all religious organizations operating in the territory of the country get registered with the State Committee for the Work with Religious Organizations and and thus obtain legal status.

Via the State Committee for the Work with Religious Organizations the normative and methodological documents adopted in this field were submitted to the religious organizationsto educate them on the AML/CFT legislation.

A Memorandum of Understanding on mutual cooperation in AML/CFT sphere was signed between the Financial Monitoring Service and the State Committee for the Work with Religious Associations in April 2010.  The Memorandum set forth both agencies’ obligations with regard to all areas of cooperation in the AML/CFT field.
